Pleasure to meet you, I have grown really fond of your work in Latin America and the idea of seeing the tech world grow in a country that has shaped me as a first generation Colombian American. My question to you is in regard to an idea I have had of moving back to Colombia and beginning to grow my network in the tech world in hopes of finding a business development role. I believe the worlds landscape will change drastically over the next 50 years and it will be driven by technology. Do you think the environment needs someone who can help foster business and grow the tech scene down there. Any input would be much appreciated.
I totally share your vision of the world and I’d even reduce the time frame to the next 20 years although it will keep accelerating 50 years out. It’s so great to see so many people having the same experience growing up as I did. Although I was born in Atlanta, my parents were Colombian and that was pretty weird WAY back when I was growing up in Pennsylvania.
I think this country needs people with the background that you describe, but it’s hard to get compensated (in money) anywhere near the way you should be.
You can feel free to email me at alan at tropicalgringo dot com if you want to continue the conversation. I’ll be in California in a few weeks in case you have time to hook up and you live there.
