    Founder Institute Grad Thotz.net: New way to visualize your info

    Thotz.netFrom a class of 34 founders, the Founder Institute in Colombia launched 7 start-ups with 9 graduates.  It was a tough program and many founders weren’t able to make it through the process.  Andres Cifuentes and Carlos Rozo were definitely the co-founders (of Thotz) with the biggest global vision: to help users visualize their information.  They’re currently working away at developing the initial app for Thoz.net that will run on the iPad and on Android Tablets and will give you a visual representation of all of your Google Apps information.

    Carlos is an information/knowledge management freak (he studied this topic in Australia) and Andres Cifuentes is a successful entrepreneur focused don the Google Apps market.  They are building a strong team with a developer (Alex) and a designer (Gloria) working on the first version of the app.  Aside from this, they have been meeting with different users to get an understanding about how they’d organize their information from a conceptual perspective.  If you’d like to sign up for the beta you can sign up here.

    El Valor del Founder Institute para Thotz.net

    Thotz.netAyer tuve una excelente conversación con los fundadores de Thotz.net, Carlos Rozo y Andres Cifuentes.  Como ya saben, hace unas semanas se graduaron los primeros 9 emprendedores del programa del Founder Institute Colombia.  Es un programa exigente de acceleracion para empresas digitales que, en Colombia, comenzó en abril con 34 emprendedores y terminó con 9 de estos.  En total fueron 7 empresas con grandes perspectivas de crecimiento y exito con las cuales anteriormente no habia contado Colombia (con excepcion de una empresa que ya estaba en funcionamiento).

    Despues de visitar la oficina de su nuevo emprendimiento y hablar sobre el trabajo que han hecho junto con su diseñadora y desarrollador, nos sentamos para tomar unos cafes y comer unos donuts. Me encantó escuchar de ellos el impacto que para ellos ha sido el haber podido asistir y graduarsen del Founder Institute.  Mientras hablaban, pensaba que sería excelente si otros pudieran escuchar lo que ellos estaban diciendo en ese momento.

    Decidí sacar mi video camara y grabar el resto de la conversaión.  Es un poco intimidante cuando alguien te comienza a grabar de repente como yo les hice a ellos pero pude recoger un poco del entusiasmo que tienen por el programa y el impacto que este ha tenido en el desarrollo de Thotz.net.  Incluyo el video abajo:

    Taller de Innovación Digital: Octubre 4

    Innovacion DigitalEstamos llegando al final del año y es hora de un ultimo taller de estrategias de Innovación Digital.  Con el apoyo de nuestro patrocinador, Microsoft, se ejecutará el proximo taller de Innovación Digital será el 4 de octubre en las oficinas de Microsoft.  Ya, mas de 50 profesionales han tomado el taller y varios han comentado sobre lo enriquecedor que este ha sido para su carrera y su perspectiva hacia el futuro.  Para mi, igualmente, sigue siendo una experience sumamente enriquezedora.

    La semana pasada, despues de mi conferencia en el Congreso Latino Americano de Banqueros, recibi comentarios bastantes positivos sobre los conceptos expresados durante la presentacion.  En dicha conferencia les hablaba a los banqueros sobre la necesidad de cambiar sus paradigmas.  Este es uno de los mensajes primordiales del taller.  Gracias a una variedad de factores como el avance de los dispositivos moviles, las redes sociales, la crisis economica de EEUU y Europa y otros, estamos viviendo tiempos de grandes cambios que requieren nuevas formas de pensar.

    Los asistentes adoptarán algunas herramientas muy  utiles para desarrollar estrategias que yo llamo Innovación Digital.  Los graduados del taller me han comentando que muchos de ellos siguen utilizando dichas herramientas.  Inscribase aquí para asisitir al taller o inscribase abajo:

    Lots of speeches lately

    Speech at eCommerce DayIt looks like I’ve been doing a lot of talking lately about Digital Innovation and Internet startups and the startup ecosystem.  Last night, I had the opportunity to talk at an event called eCommerce Day Bogota along with impressive entrepreneur, Oscar Giraldo, founder of Arcaris.  It was great to hear the interest from everyone in entrepreneurship and  what we’ve been accomplishing with the Founder Institute in Colombia.

    Additionally, last week, I had the opportunity to address a group of bankers at an event sponsored by the Bankers’ Association.  I was able to give them a perspective on where the startup action is in terms of the financial services vertical and was happy with the feedback and the interest from the industry in these topics.  I was accompanied by my Founder Institute Colombia team member, Juan Manuel Lopez as well by a co-founder of one of the Founder Institute graduating companies that is firing on all cylinders, financial product comparator site: Comparamejor.

    CartagenaLast but not least, I had tremendous pleasure of staying in some swanky accommodations in Cartagena and took advantage of this by smoking 4 of my favorite cigars during that two day period.  I’m sure hardly anyone kicks back like that, but to each his own. :)
